Some people may question if solar water heaters are worth the little extra money. Here are some facts that will help you decide whether a solar water heater is right for you and your home.

If you are looking for ways to cut back on your utility bills, or if your children and husband take super long showers like mine, solar water heaters are a must buy. They have panels that are either hooked to the water heater or to your roof that will absorb the energy from the sun and not the money from your pocket.

Solar heaters have two main types, passive and active. The passive water heater is without circulating pumps while the active has that as well as controls. Its also important to know of the two other options you are given, the two tank system or one tank system.

The two tank system is very convenient because while one tank is being used, the other tank is being heated by the solar heaters before it is deposited into the conventional water heater.

The one tank system has only one tank. This doesnt make it any inferior though. The one tank system has both the back up heater as well as the solar storage.

Some people focus too much on the prices of the water heaters and not on the full picture. It is true to buy a regular water heater is less expensive but what starts adding up are the utility bills. Keep in mind that with the solar water heater you have now eliminated that from your bill.

It is true that regular water heaters themselves are cheaper, ranging in the prices from $300 to $2,000. But just add up your utility bills and what you are paying for your water to be heated. Then when you look at solar water heaters costing $1,500 to $2,000 youll realized that your savings are your bills and that your solar water heater pays for itself.

Currently, we have a little more than a million and a half fully functioning solar water heaters in America. Some people think that solar water heating is only for certain climates when this is not true. The great thing about them is that they work in any climate.

With all the focus on prices going up and the economy, its the best time ever to invest in a solar water heater system. There are many heating specials in Utah right now that can help you save even more when you purchase your solar water heater.
